AU had set up 17 centres for the examination of 40 subjects at varsity's three faculties besides assigning 300 of its teaching and non-teaching staff members for the smooth conduct of the all-important exam.
UGC Net Exam-05 Co-ordinator Prof HN Mishra informed that out of around 5000 candidates, 410 candidates appeared in the exam at the Law faculty, 465 at the Commerce Faculty while all others gave the exam at AU's Senate Hall campus.
Candidates basically appeared in the exam at all the departments barring the Psychology and the Music departments on the Senate hall Campus.
The exam was conducted in two shifts: 9.30 am to 12 pm (Paper I and II) and 1.30 pm to 4 pm (Paper III). Candidates had started to gather at AU over an hour before the start of the exam. Strict security arrangements had been made by the AU authorities with the help of the district police. Candidates were checked at all the entry points of the varsity and a Sub-Inspector backed by half-a-dozen police constables were stationed at each of the 17 centres.
A five-member team of observers consisting of senior officials from the Banaras Hindu University, Delhi University and Allahabad University also remained on their toes and visited a number of centres during the course of the exam.
