Stating that only a regional party can raise issues of local importance, UKD leader Kashi Singh Airy said migration from the hills and rights of people on resources like water, forest and land were among the 52 points raised by the party in its manifesto.

About 55 villages in the high ranges of the state were wearing a deserted look due to migration, the manifesto said. It promises measures to launch various schemes to check the problem.

The families, whose lands were acquired for setting up various hydel projects, should be given free power and employment in the project sites, besides the government taking measures for their rehabilitation.
