A fast bowler of growing status, Umar Gul was included in the recently concluded Sharjah Cup after Pakistan decided to revamp their squad, looking at their dismal WOrld Cup performance.

He had played just nine first-class matches and was infused into the Pakistan team under the captaincy of Rashid Latif.

He showed great discipline in his line and length, showed accuraty and got some outswing on the flat tracks of Sharjah.
