UN, Annan jointly awarded 2003 Indira Gandhi peace prize

The UN and its Secretary General Kofi Annan have been jointly awarded the Indira Gandhi International Award for Peace for the year 2003.

The United Nations and its Secretary General Kofi Annan have been jointly awarded the Indira Gandhi International Award for Peace, Disarmament and Development for the year 2003.

This was announced here by K Natwar Singh, vice-chairman of the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust.

The award for 2002 was presented on Wednesday by President APJ Abdul Kalam to former Commonwealth secretary general Sir Shridath Ramphal at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
