UN lost credibility: Fernandes

"The Iraq war proved that powerful nations could set aside all prescribed norms to bully others," the Defence Minister said on Monday.

Defence Minister George Fernandes on Monday said Iraq war showed that the United Nations had lost its "importance and credibility".

"The war proved that powerful nations could set aside all prescribed norms to bully others questioning the credibility of the United Nations," he told reporters here.

The UN had also failed to prove its utility to establish stability and peace, Fernandes said.
