Unfold truth, supervise probe

Inspector General of Allahabad Zone, Suvrat Tripathi, has taken serious note of the reported release of a pradhan from police custody in the sensational murder of the head constable and is understood to have directed the DIG to inquire into the truth. He has also directed the DIG Akhilesh Mehrotra to supervise the investigation in this case himself and also get the issue of the attempt by some criminals to get Rs one crore deposited in the ICICI bank here as disclosed by the bank staff.

He has also directed the DIG Akhilesh Mehrotra to supervise the investigation in this case himself and also get the issue of the attempt by some criminals to get Rs one crore deposited in the ICICI bank here as disclosed by the bank staff.

Such a big amount cannot be 'supari' money alone, he said.

He has also said the attempt to deposit such a large sum of money could also be the handiwork of some terrorists who have come to eliminate important persons.
Looking into the gravity of the situation the IG has also directed the DIG to get the matter probed through the LIU.

The probe would prove whether attempt was at all made to deposit such a large amount or it was just a hoax story doing rounds.

The inquiry would also look into the antecedents of the village pradhan who was reportedly let off but later arrested. The pradhan's links with the Varanasi based gang will also be looked into.

He said that it was important for the police to find out who all were in the firing line of the desperadoes who could not carry out their operation due to the murder of the head constable.

He said, it was essential to lift the curtain from the mystery so that action against all the criminals could be initiated.
