According to sources, nearly 550 primary schools, from KG to V, are unrecognised and running in various localities in the city.
Besides, most of them have not even registered their schools with education societies. It is not the end of irregularities. The schools, which are registered by Basic Educational Council from I to V classes are misleading the people saying that they are recognised by CBSE and ICSC boards.
Sources said that in urban areas, there are 250 unregistered and unrecognised primary schools and in rural areas, their number is more than 300. In name of building the future of a child, the management of these colleges are taking a lot of money as fee from the students’ parents. These institutions are being run in two or three rooms in residential flats.
There are 22 public schools that are recognised by the education department. But hundreds of schools are unregistered.
They have been established in lanes and thickly populated areas. However, their strength is increasing every year.
These institutions have claimed to impart better education to children.
At the time of admission the management of these schools hired Anglo-Indians and Christians to attract the people.
Besides, they also demand money for donation admission.
The education department, said that 22 public schools were registered by the department. While there were 19 recognised public schools in Gorakhpur, Deoria has two and Kushinagar one.
The officials of the education said that they could not take action against these schools as the owners of these schools had the backing of various political parties.
