District magistrate DK Singh said the main accused, Shahid (23), who is in jail, was detained on Wednesday under the National Security Act.

A 40-year-old married health worker allegedly committed suicide on January 12 as the video of her gangrape by Shahid and three others was uploaded on social media in Chapra village in Muzaffarnagar.

The victim, an Asha worker, consumed poison at Chapra village after she came to know about the objectionable video being circulated on WhatsApp, city SP Pradeep Gupta said.
