The Uttar Pradesh PCS Association will hold a day-long dharna at Sardar Patel's statue in the GPO Park on Saturday.

Besides demanding posting of PCS officers as Principal Secretary and Secretary, the PCS Association has also been demanding batch-wise promotions and time scale to PCS officers.

Association President Hardev Singh said the state government though has initiated some steps to clear the backlog much more was needed to be done on this front.

Association would review progress made to resolve problems being faced by PCS officers at venue of dharna and take appropriate steps, he said. The PCS officers posted in districts have also pointed out that in many districts they were not being given a fair deal.

Instead of leaving the issue to district magistrates the State Government should directly post PCS officers as SDMs, he said.

At many places the DMs act under pressure, he said adding despite completion of two-year probation period the State Government was yet to issue confirmation orders to a number of PCS officers. In many cases services of PCS officers have not been confirmed even after completion of five or more years of service, he said.
