“HINDI AND Urdu have been extended the status of critical languages in the US. We require Urdu teachers for our Fulbright foreign language teaching assistance programme.
“Besides, we are also interested in sending US teachers for doing teaching and research work in agricultural universities of India,” said Prof Jane E Schukoske, executive director, US Educational Foundation in India.
During an interactive session with mediapersons and Fulbright scholars at Hotel Park Inn on Friday evening, Prof Jane who is here in connection with the interviews for the Ford Foundation’s International Fellowship Programme, said that Fulbright aimed at fostering greater interaction and better professional understanding among people who are selected for the scholarships.
Two youths who had been awarded the Fulbright scholarship and two who had availed of the scholarships in the past, were present at the interactive meet convened on the initiative of Prof DS Sengar, IIM-L faculty and president of Fulbright Alumni Association, Lucknow. Nandita Singh, scientist (eco-auditing group), Dr HM Behl, scientist, NBRI shared their Fulbright experience with Hemant Joshi and Swati Guleria who would be heading for US soon.
