Opinion-makers and legistlators have explored developments in the US-India relations on the 'Indian American Policy Day'.

Legislators, opinion-makers and administration officials have explored developments in the US-India bilateral relations on the occassion of the 'Indian American Policy Day'.

Democratic Congressman Joe Crowley, Co-Chairman of the Congressional Caucus on India, and Indian Americans hosted the funtion at the Capitol Hill here yesterday to mark the Day.

Those who attended explored progress in the bilateral relations between the countries and their importance to the peoples of both nations. Leading legislators, opinion-makers and Bush Administration officials were among those who spoke.

They stressed, the event was especially important because of the election of a new government in India and the growing importance of the Indian American community in the crucial election year for the United States too.

Sanjay Puri, Executive Director of US-India Political Action Committee singled out Congressman Crowley for all the help he has given to the Indian American community.

"He (Crowley) has consistently had great insight into what our community's concerns, expectations," Puri said.

Several members of Congress attended, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Congresswomen Juanita Millender-McDonald, Linda Sanchez and Nita Lowey, and Congressmen Charles Rangel, Frank Pallone Chris Bell, Jim McDermott, and John Lewis.

Ashok Sajjanhar from the Indian Embassy, K. Alan Kronstadt from the Congressional Research Service, Nicholas Dean from the US State Department and Under Secretary of Commerce Kenneth I. Juster were among those present. PTI TVP TCK

Washington, June 3 (PTI) Legislators, opinion-makers, administration officials have explored developments in the US-India bilateral relations on the occassion of the 'Indian American Policy Day'.
