Addressing the august gathering, IMA president VC Rastogi stressed on the need for more participation of trained para-medical staff in the medical services. Dr Rastogi said, “The theme emphasises the extremely important role of paramedical staff and every person concerned with providing health services to local communities, cities, states, country and entire world.”

IMA city secretary and an eminent psychiatrist Madhukar Katiyar on the World Health Day said, “Paramedical staff such as nursing personnel, pharmacists, ANMs, multi purpose health workers, health educators and vaccinators are an extremely important link between the people and the health system.”

Dr Katiyar also said that unfortunately, this entire force of para medical staff is demoralised, under-trained, under-paid, under-recognised and under-praised. “If these hitches are removed, then health care delivery efficiency and overall health mortality can be improved manifold,” added Dr Katiyar while speaking on World Health Day.

On the occasion, doctors stressed upon the need for a joint effort by all medical institutes, medical colleges, nursing and pharmacy schools, local bodies, State and Central Governments and make an all out effort to recognise, acclaim, train and utilize these paramedical staff, working together with them as a team.
