V-C?s peace march a gimmic

Yadav said the varsity authorities were trying to divert the attention of students from the question paper issue. In a communiqué issued by Yadav, he said that despite a meeting fixed with students on Tuesday, the V-C did not meet them.
He asked the V-C and the varsity administration to consider the students’ demands regarding the leakage of question papers and maintain sanctity of examinations.
Yadav also conducted a meeting of students and urged them to continue the fight till they got justice.
The students demanded cancellation of the admission test and re-conduct of the entire admission test.
Those present at the meeting were Sanjeev Rai, Manoj Kumar, Surendra Chaudhari, Anand Singh, Umesh Upadhyay, Praveen Shukla, Mukund Lal Maurya, Dinesh Yadav, Raghavendra Singh, Mohit Mishra, Santosh Yadav and Durgesh Pandey among others .
Meanwhile, AU students led by student leader Vijay Dwivedi and Deepak Shukla staged a protest at V-C’s office and burnt an effigy of Prof Harshe in protest against the question paper leakage. They later held a meeting at the students’ union hall.
The students charged the V-C with supporting corrupt elements of the varsity.
The students threatened to stop the admission process. Those present on the occasion were Om Prakash Dwivedi, Alok Dubey, Mohit Patel, Irshad Ullah, Devendra Rathore, Vikas Kesarwani, Suraj Kesari and Rohit Tiwari among others.
Support sought
ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY Teachers’ Association (Y) president Dr Yogeshwar Tiwari has urged students, employees and the teachers of AU to support vice-chancellor Prof Rajen Harshe’s initiative and help the resurgence of the varsity.
“Today, there is no dearth of funds and under the leadership of Prof Harshe, we can take the varsity to new heights. It is time that we dedicate ourselves to helping the university regain its lost glory,” Dr Tiwari said on Tuesday.
