Sonia has appealed for maintaining social harmony and peace.

Sonia, who is also UPA Chairperson, said in a message "at this moment while all efforts are being made to identify those behind this dastardly deed, we must do our utmost to maintain social harmony and peace".

Gandhi, who is in touch with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Shivraj Patil, said the blasts were a "senseless act of violence" directed at innocent citizens of the country.
