Varanasi: deputy jailor shot dead by six miscreants

The incident took place at around 7am when Tyagi was coming out of the Virus gymnasium after a workout.
After getting information, all senior cops rushed to the spot.
Six miscreants on three motorcycles fired at Tyagi and he died on the spot.
Passersby rushed him to the nearby district hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Tyagi was posted at the district jail about five years ago and was known for his integrity. Several hardcore criminals of Varanasi and its adjoining areas are lodged in district jail.
According to sources, the incident is the fallout of some hardcore criminals lodged in district jail. Tyagi was proving to be a hurdle for these criminals in carrying out their illegal activities from the prison.
“We are investigating the case and it is too early to anything. Only after investigation we will be able to know whether the incident is the fallout of some personal enmity of Tyagi or is the handiwork of some criminals lodged in district jail,” said senior superintendent of police Rajesh Modak.
