The MP from Pilibhit in western Uttar Pradesh was seen leading members of his BJP to the speaker's podium when the Lok Sabha reconvened at 12 noon, only to be adjourned again as the noisy opposition protests on the issue continued.

Gandhi, 29, said he had to do it as a majority in his constituency Pilibhit were farmers.

"Mine is a rural area. Majority of them (the people) are farmers. So, I had to do it," Gandhi told IANS.

Asked whether the senior BJP leaders directed him to lead the agitation in the Lok Sabha, he said: "My leader advised me."
Faced with united protests against the sugarcane pricing policy, Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the house till Monday.
