Vendors clash, one killed

A VEGETABLE vendor was killed in a scuffle with another vendor near Ibrahimpura late on Wednesday night. According to police, the victim, Afzal, 24, a resident of Islampura near Budhwara, had an altercation with Arman, 18, near Moti Masjid where both sold bananas.

They exchanged blows and Arman apparently hit Afzal with a hard object causing the latter to fell unconscious. The accused fled the spot soon after the incident. The police rushed the victim to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.

It was not clear exactly what caused the death. No external injury or blood was found on the spot. It is surmised that Afzal died as a result of some internal injury. The deceased’s body has been sent for post-mortem.

The Talaiya police have registered a case of murder and launched a hunt for the accused. It will be clear only after the post-mortem report what exactly caused the death. The relatives of the accused are being questioned but the police are yet to find out what provoked the accused to attack Afzal.

In a separate incident, a girl was robbed of cell phone near Gandhi Medical College late on Wednesday night. The complainant, Mithilesh, was on her way back home on her two-wheeler when two motorcycle-borne youths came from behind and snatched her handbag containing a cell phone and some cash. The hunt is on for the accused.
