THE LUCKNOW police on Sunday claimed to have worked out the sensational murder of retired IAS officer, Ramesh Chandra Rastogi who was found murdered at his C-29 Indira Nagar residence on Saturday.

The police arrested five persons, including three women, who were allegedly involved in the murder and said that it was a ‘revenge killing.’
The arrested women claimed before media persons at the SSP office on Sunday evening that they used to work as maids at the IAS officer’s residence and that Rastogi used to molest them.
The maids discussed the issue with their family members and then decided to kill the IAS officer. Those arrested from Mayawati Colony in Chinhat include Dileep Kumar, his wife Pooja (both residents of Dooda Colony in Chinhat), Arti, Jitendra (resident of Nanauta, Chinhat) and Ritu (resident of Luv Kush Nagar, Ghazipur).
Police claimed that all the accused were interrogated separately and all of them confessed to having murdered the IAS officer and buried his body in his garden in the backyard. The accused confessed that Pooja worked as a maid in Rastogi’s residence. When she fell ill, she used to send her younger sister Arti as well as her cousin Ritu to work there.
It was Ritu who first told her relatives that Rastogi had molested her. Significantly, after hearing Ritu, Pooja and Arti said that were similarly sexually exploited by the IAS officer. They then told their maternal cousin, Jitendra as well as to Pooja’s husband Dileep.
Dilip and Jitendra after hearing about it suggested that Rastogi should be punished for his act. Subsequently on Friday night they went together to Rastogi’s residence at around 9.30 pm. Ritu pressed the doorbell after which Rastogi opened the door.
All of them barged inside and Jitendra and Dilip allegedly asked the IAS officer to explain his conduct. Rastogi reportedly took offence at their behaviour and hurled some expletives at them.
Ritu then hit Rastogi on his head from behind with a candle stand while Dilip and others hit him repeatedly with whatever they could find including kitchen utensils, knife etc.
As a profusely bleeding Rastogi slumped on the floor, the enraged women, who were subjected to alleged sexual exploitation by the retired bureaucrat, continued to hit him till he died.
Thereafter, the assailants decided to bury Rastogi’s body in the garden behind his residence. They again returned to the room where Rastogi was murdered, wiped the floor clean and then locked the bathroom after throwing the cloth they had used to clean the floor of blood etc inside.
Thereafter, they left Rastogi’s residence. SP TG, AK Singh claimed that the police has recovered the blood stained clothes of both Dilip and Jitendra as well as the candle stand and other things used to murder the IAS officer.
