The 23-year-old physiotherapist was a student of a private institute affiliated to the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University.“A grand prayer meeting will be held in the first week of February. Her brother has given consent,” said the director of the private institute where the gang rape victim was studying physiotherapy (final year).

Her classmates and other college friends as well as students from other institutes in Dehradun are expected to attend the prayer meeting. Her father may also attend the meeting.

The friends of the victim have also decided to celebrate her birthday on May 10 as ‘bravery day’. The institute had earlier decided to return her entire fee, Rs. 1.80 lakh, to her parents but the family has reportedly not accepted the money. The director said he would approach the family soon, requesting them to accept the money that they had returned.

The Delhi gang rape victim was alive when results to her final examination were announced but her marksheet was issued only now. The victim’s marksheet, a copy of which is with HT, shows that she has procured with 68% marks.
