Kadima leader Ehud Olmert went to pray at Jerusalem's Western Wall, the holiest site in Judaism, early Wednesday after exit polls showed his party was on course to win Israel's general election.
Olmert, who was wearing a blue and white kippa skullcap in the colours of the Israeli flag, slipped a prayer into the cracks of the wall in the heart of Jerusalem's Old City.
The visit to the Western Wall is a traditional journey for successful leaders after an election. Although the results have yet to be announced, Kadima had a clear lead over all its rivals according to exit polls after Tuesday's election.
