Residents of six villages have decided to boycott the BSP candidate for Morna assembly by-poll in Uttar Pradesh after a dalit was allegedly beaten up by supporters of a former MLA belonging to that party.

Residents of six villages have decided to boycott the BSP candidate for Morna assembly by-poll in Uttar Pradesh after a dalit was allegedly beaten up by supporters of a former MLA belonging to that party.

The decision to boycott the candidate, Jamil Ahmed, was taken by a local panchayat after one Naresh Kumar was allegedly beaten up yesterday at Chaprozi village by supporters of former MLA Mahender Valmiki.

The by-poll will be held on August 18.
