Joining relief operations, Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi and his father Suresh Oberoi and their team started work at the tsunami-ravaged Thevanampattinam coastal village near Cuddalore to set up temporary thatched huts to accommodate fishermen rendered homeless in the disaster.

The Oberois had been in Cuddalore since last week to adopt the fishing hamlet of Thevanampattinam, but were told that they would have to get the state government's consent.

Following this, Oberoi and his team started to set up about 200 temporary thatched huts with the permission of District Collector Gagandeep Singh Bedi.

The team put up 50 sheds on Wednesday.

Suresh Oberoi told the agency on Wednesday that electricity connection was being provided to huts.

Repair works of damaged buildings and family healthcare programme would be taken up. Funds would not be a constraint for taking up relief measures, he added.
