A number of voters here today complained that their names have been deleted from the electoral rolls since the assembly elections last year without assigning any reasons.
Vijay Dhar, son of former Indian ambassador to Moscow D P Dhar, and his wife were disappointed when their names did not figure in the electoral list at Burn Hall polling booth in Srinagar parliamentary constituency.
Dhar and his wife came to the polling booth at 8.30 AM to cast their vote but had to leave without exercising the fundamental right as their names were not in the electoral list.
Dejected Dhar after coming out of the polling station said that he could not cast his vote.
Talking to PTI, he said he and his wife exercised their franchise in the assembly elections held in November-December, last year, at the same booth.
He exhibited his and his wife’s voter identity card bearing number 226 and 227.
Similar complaints were also received from other booths where voters, who had cast their votes in the last assembly elections, could not do so this time as their names did not figure in the voting list.
