The Tatas can take wing when the project gets off the ground
With reference to the editorial Say Tata again before you fly (March 8), it seems important to note that the sky was relatively clear when JRD Tata first started an airline.
Now the Tatas may run into rough weather. Unlike earlier, public and private sector companies are now flying their planes. Perhaps because of such competition, the Tatas’ stake in this joint venture is at a minimum. To know if the Tatas can take wing again, we must wait for the project to take off.

It could happen to everyone
The report Every 2 hours, a woman in Delhi is molested or raped (March 8) is shocking. It is hard to trust the government when it says that Delhi will be made safe for women.
Even as more rapes are committed with impunity, the police have remained inactive and inefficient. It is time that our leaders empathised with the victims of such crimes and their families.
What if this had happened to my family or someone I know? — until and unless they ask themselves this question repeatedly, we will never see real progress.

Defend his right to speak
Dilip D’Souza in his article It’s the Great Wharton Dustup (March 7) puts forth the argument that people who do not want to hear Narendra Modi can exercise their freedom of expression by not allowing him to speak.
This is a self-defeating interpretation and goes against the concept of freedom of expression. We must remember that if Modi had used his speech for unacceptable utterances, he would have stood exposed.
