WAPCOS will undertake drawing, design and supervision of the Rs 23.75 crore project that aims at converting the reservoir into a year-round water supply source by raising dam height and ridding the lake of silt. The consultancy firm has been granted six months’ time to submit the report for the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) funded project.
The okay to the WAPCOS bid came at a meeting of the high-powered committee for the project chaired by Mayor Dr Uma Shashi Sharma at the IMC headquarters today. Mayor-in-Council member in-charge of Waterworks Munnalal Yadav, Commissioner Vinod Sharma, Manager, Project Implementation Unit (PIU) Prabhash Sankhla, Superintending Engineer (Narmada Project) M J Tulsi and Chief Engineer (Irrigation Department) A Singhal were among those present on the occasion.
“The initial bid of Rs 76 lakh was trimmed to Rs 71 lakh by the negotiation committee. The proposal will now be submitted to the Mayor-in-Council for approval before being forwarded to the JNNURM Technical Clearance Committee in Bhopal,” revealed MiC member Munnalal Yadav.
