The pipeline will be closed from 4 am on Sunday. The gravity main pipeline is being closed as the valve connecting the Shahpura feeder main pipeline is also leaking. Going by past experiences, it is expected that water supply will be back to normal only by Tuesday evening. BMC, however, claimed water supply will be restored on Monday evening.

The areas to be affected include Arera Colony, Shahpura, Bharat Nagar, Gulmohar, Trilanga, Lal Lajpatrai Colony, Baba Nagar, Mira Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Ginnauri, Bal Vihar, Ibrahimganj, Quazi Camp, PGBT, Narialkheda, Arif Nagar, JP Nagar, Govindpura, Jehangirabad, Janata Colony, Saket Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Kotra Sultanabad, Nehru Nagar and other areas connected to Kolar Supply System. BMC administration said it will make alternative arrangements in the affected areas.

Water supply in the City has been erratic over the past fortnight. On September 13, the Kolar supply system was closed for repair of about a dozen leaks. This affected the City’s water supply for three days. Since then, power cuts and leaks in different pipelines have been affecting supply.
