The duo was speaking at a meeting organised by the Pragatisheel Samaj Party. Any attempt to divide the society on economic grounds would have serious consequences, warned Singh, while Babbar accused the Samajwadi Party (SP) of deceiving people by selling land in the name of development.

Commenting on the ‘Jawab Do’ rally in the state capital on May 30, Babbar said all designs of the SP would be exposed and an explanation be sought from the government at this rally.

Singh said in the name of development the poor were being relegated to a backburner status. As the poor were being displaced from their land, this would have serious consequences.

Meanwhile, moved by the plight of residents of malin basti whose dwellings were razed to the ground by the defence personnel in the Sangam area, the former PM VP Singh assured them he would talk to the defence minister for their rehabilitation.
