I think the respondents to the poll were right in saying that Western values must not replace Indian traditions.

This refers to Neelesh Misra’s report India, deeply conservative, resists change (State of the Nation, August 10). I think the respondents to the poll were right in saying that Western values must not replace Indian traditions. In fact, no society would allow its values to be replaced by an alien system.
