Brahma Chellaney’s article Trick and treat (July 18) is an eye-opener. The US is only trying to advance its own interest by playing the old India vs Pakistan game. It will be best for the Prime Minister to let the nuclear deal with the US lapse because Washington has unilaterally changed the key terms of the deal. Useless appeal to G-8
Manmohan Singh’s appeal to the G-8 nations to help India fight terrorism and isolate those sponsoring it is ridiculous because his own government is running so many rail and bus services to and from Pakistan. The PM is appealing to other countries to prepare a world-wide policy to root out all support for terrorism. But what has he done as PM during the last two years?

The Condemnation of the attacks by the US and Britain is no more than lip service. The US policy to supply F16s to Pakistan despite terrorist attacks on innocent people only demonstrates that a strong India is not to its liking.

It is ludicrous that the US which goes and bombs another nation without any evidence has the audacity to ask India to provide evidence before pre-empting any political action against Pakistan. Why does the Indian leadership pay heed to the US while solving our domestic problems?

The US can wage a war against Iraq on suspicion that it had chemical weapons, but when it comes to India, George Bush wants proof of a Pakistani hand in the Mumbai blasts. Obviously, the global war against terror is only meant to protect American interests.
