NOW SCHOOLCHILDREN know what makes IIM different from other management institutes. More than eight schools were there to participate in the Inter School Competition OCUMEN 2005 organised by.
On Sunday when the schools are closed and students remain confined to their homes and relax, some students from the schools were busy in rigorous mental and physical work in IIM campus. For a change usually booing students were performing all task assigned to them with interest and determination, dedication and will to succeed was clearly written on their faces.
Chairman student’s affair IIM-Lucknow Dr DS Sengar said, “OCUMEN is all about creating awareness about the management education amongst the schoolchildren. Secondly, it creates a brand image of IIM as an institute in the minds of young students, as it showcases our life to outside world. It also provides a platform for teachers to come together, interact and share their experiences and learning.”
Shalini Dixit and Nandan Dimri of CMS Mahanagar were amazed to see the student’s friendly atmosphere of IIM.
“Here everyone is a friend, they work in friendly atmosphere be it teacher or a student. Everyone is free to share his own thoughts and opinions this makes them different from others,” said Shalini and added, “I want to become a doctor in future but still I would love to come back to IIM as a student after completing my medical studies to become a better human being, as it’s the best place for personality development.”
Abhishek Sharma and Parth Gupta of Delhi Public School Gurgaon were amazed to see the great method of interactive teaching in the IIM campus. “ I feel the closeness of teaching staff with the students and free interaction with them helps the man to come out of a boy in the IIM graduates,” said Abhishek.
Parina Maghu and Anchal Sinha student of class XI in Army Public School were ecstatic to be in IIM campus. “ I want to be the most successful person ever for that I would love to learn the skills of management in IIM. The best thing which I have learned here is quick thinking and spontaneity.”
Prateek Saxena of Colvin Taluquedar’s College wants to join defense forces. “Defense forces must send some of their best cadets to go through the IIM
degree, without IIM degree no one can become a complete manager.”
Earlier, students played number of games in marketing, finance, strategy and human resource, they also went through the extempore and general quiz.
Atish Mathur of Army Public School Lucknow was declared Mr OCUMEN while Avantika Lal of Modern School New Delhi was crowned Miss OCUMEN amongst the thunderous applauds.
While Little Flowers School Gorakhpur was declared second runner up in the over all competition, CMS Gomti Nagar was first runner up while Modern School Delhi was declared the overall winner of the competition.
