Amrita Rao bid farewll to ‘08 with Shyam Benegal’s hit film

Welcome to Sajjanpur
. She is now all geared up to re-create the magic with her upcoming films
Victory, Shortcut
and more. The actress shares what all she has in her hand and... mind.
Great expectations
Since I begin this year with
Victory
, let’s hope it’s a victorious year, full of achievements and conquests. I am also looking forward to
Shortcut.
Besides these two films, I am doing a special appearance in Milap Zaveri’s Ritesh Deshmukh starrer,
Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai
. Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s untitled film with Amitabh and Tabu.
Looking out for
I am really looking for roles with good directors. I think we actresses are all equally talented. It’s just the way we are presented by some creative person that makes all the difference to us.
Scope in sports film
The script of the film [
Victory
] is very powerful. The film is not confined to cricket, there is a lot of emphasis on relationships too. Both Anupam [who plays Hurman’s father] and I have an opportunity to perform. As gar as success is concerned — it is something that is not in our hands but our approach towards our work makes all the difference. I see
a ‘never say die’ passion in Hurman.
Her take on Hurman
Hurman is full of life. He has this innate sense of humour. He is a very good co-actor. We got along very well. He took the failure of
Love Story 2050
in his stride. After his first film didn’t do well, he came with double the energy and passion on the sets of
Victory
.
Her favourite cricketer
Dhoni. I love cricket and have been watching cricket matches since my school days. I grew up on Sachin Tendulakar. When I have time on hand, if an interesting match is going on, I definitely watch it.
Moment of victory...
My victory comes from every compliment that I get from my fans. Also when somebody admits to being influenced by my role. Recognition from whichever part of the world is my victory.
Reaction on link-ups w
ith Shahid Kapur, Nikhil Diwedi [actor] and Hurman Baweja...
[Laughs] I just laugh it off… I don’t counter them because I don’t feel I owe an explanation to anyone besides my family. The truth speaks for itself.
