We keep hearing and reading that children are stressed because of some fault in our education system. We also keep witnessing revision and change of curricula to cut down the weight of school bags, designing and redesigning of study schedules, exam schedules to lessen the stress that the child experiences.

In doing all this, we are being quite predictable as human. One of the few prominent features of being human is not being able to see things/ faults which are inside us. This is our blind spot. We are somehow not designed to begin with oneself while trying to find fault. We do nothing new when we try to find excuses in the education system for our children's problem.

Statistics show that children today are more stressed than they ever were. Let's see how this possibly could have come about and who should begin where.

Life today is much more fast paced than it used to be. The acceleration is of the nature so as to include forty eight hours in twenty four .In doing so, we try to do more than one thing at a time. This is called multi-tasking. We compare ourselves with an organization. So, instead of comprehending the self as one unit we understand it as a bunch of units. We disintegrate the processes of social, psychological, emotional, ethical, physiological as separate and independent. That's why when we eat, we think it is the job of the mouth to chew and swallow, let it do. In the meantime, we can devote our thinking to other tasks.

Practice makes a man perfect. We become perfect at the art very soon. At least, we wish to believe that. We try and nurture our children on the same paradigm i.e., many is important, single is redundant.

Speaking neuropsychological, parallel processing is a process best done when the intellectual faculties have stabilized and are strong. Done earlier, they give rise to weak integration system, resulting in poor coping styles, high stress levels, not so competent psychologies.

Shallow roots never help in growing a strong tree. Let the processes be sequential with sufficient time for absorption.

No change in the external environment can ever help the child if we at home continue to trim the roots of development. We will, but have bonsais.
