THE RAJA?S tenants have decided to seek God?s intervention after their pleas failed to move the former in their favour. The tenants sat on a three-day havan in front of Royal Cafe to appease God to save them from the deadline fears. ?He is a Raja. He should understand our plight. He can have mercy on us,? said the tenants. Will the impossible happen? Will the miracle save them? In fact, the Raja knows it better and none else. But, the question is?will he really oblige them?

Meanwhile, business went on as usual for them, but the top tenant traders were still laying their heads together to find out an escape route. But, what after havan? “We will observe a bandh in Hazr-atganj, Janpath and Prince market on Tuesday to press for our demand. This will be followed by Lucknow ‘bandh’ if the district administration initiates any action against them,” says Kishan Chandra Bambani, president of Hazratganj Traders’ Association.
“We are pre-1965 tenants. If our plea is unjustified then why at all had High Court admitted that. We all are awaiting the Tuesday verdict,” said Vishal of Kohli Brothers.
But, strangely some are still pinning their hopes on the miracle with only two day to the deadline. “How can they snatch our daily bread? We will face the action and let them overpower us and take the possession,” he added. Atul Baluja of Fairdeal Electronics says, “We offered Rs 50,000 per month rent, but Raja’s offer of Rs 100 per sq ft is too high for us. Even multinational can’t afford Rs 3,00,000 per month for this area. We have all our stock intact and lets see what happen and will decide course of action as the eviction process begins.” The Janpath traders, all post 1965-tenants, are doing business as usual.
“We wish nothing happens. Hope the writs bring some relief to us. If at all that ‘black day’ comes, we will ask for a little time to shift the stock. No option,” said a harried vulnerable trader.
The only establishments remained closed business was Hotel Capoor and Royal Café.
