Woman dacoit arrested outside court

THE KOTWALI police arrested dacoit Malti Kewat, wife of dreaded dacoit Mangli Kewat outside the court complex while she was going to meet her lawyer in the court here today. Mangli is already in jail.

THE KOTWALI police arrested dacoit Malti Kewat, wife of dreaded dacoit Mangli Kewat outside the court complex while she was going to meet her lawyer in the court here today. Mangli is already in jail.

Malti was carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on her head, said her lawyer Rghunandan Singh Nishad. He further said that Malti is presently named in two cases of kidnapping for ransom. While the one dates back to 2004, under Satti police station in which two brothers Anil and Amit Katiyar were kidnapped while the other is of August 2, 2005. The case relates to kidnapping of Kunwar, an Ahilya Bai Inter College student and son of Basant Kumar, a resident under Akbarpur police station area

The other case of kidnapping of Kunwar son of complainant Basant Kumar who was student of the Ahilya Bai Inter College under police station Akbarpur occurred on August 2, 2005.

Talking to Hindustan Times station officer Kotwali Ravi Kant Parashar said that Malti was arrested out side the court complex while she was going to meet her advocate. He further said she was carrying a reward of Rs 2,500 on her head, however the amount may be more as the information about her criminal background is being collected from other districts. Parashar said a knife was also recovered from her possession. Meanwhile, dacoit Mangli Kewat was produced before the additional district judge (VII) for hearing of a kidnapping case.
