A woman killed her two minor daughters by poisoning them and later committed suicide near Tikamgarh, police said on Saturday.
The incident took place on Friday night at Baswan village, about 90 km from Tikamgarh, after the woman, Hardevi Kushwaha’s husband, Hazarilal denied her permission to go to her parents’ house on the occasion of Holi, Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Vinod Singh told PTI here.
Hardevi, along with her daughters, wanted to visit her parents house on Holi and when she was denied permission, she entered into a quarrel with her husband, he said.
Later, when Hazarilal and other family members went out in fields, Hardevi gave poison to her two daughters, aged four years and one-and-half years. She then consumed the poison herself, Singh said.
When Hazarilal reached home on Saturday morning, he found the bodies of his wife and two daughters, the officer said.
A case has been registered and investigations were on.
