A woman 'trickster', who conned several persons into parting with valuables by posing as a Sub-Inspector, besides intimidating auto rickshaw drivers and hoteliers for free rides and food, has been arrested in Thiruvananthapuram.
A woman 'trickster', who conned several persons into parting with valuables by posing as a Sub-Inspector, besides intimidating auto rickshaw drivers and hoteliers for free rides and food, has been arrested in Thiruvananthapuram.
The woman, Seetha (40), preyed on her unsuspecting victims, flashing a photograph of herself in police uniform, demanding cash and gold and promising to help them by taking up their cases with senior police officials.
There were also complaints that she used to intimidate auto rickshaw drivers and hoteliers for free rides and food.
Her luck ran out after a woman filed a complaint that she had borrowed cash and gold ornaments and failed to return them in a few days, as promised, following which she was arrested yesterday.
