Said Shristhi Kapoor, a resident of Kakadeo, “Casting our vote makes little difference, as we know the elected candidate would only be too eager to fill up his or her pockets.” Richa Agarwal, a resident of Birhana Road, said, “I exercised my voting right just to avoid bogus voting, but I am not happy with any of the contestants.”

The days of honest politicians are over, said Garima Kapoor, a resident of Gumti.

“Though as citizens of the country, people should exercise their franchise, but where are the deserving candidates,” she said. As far as supporting women candidates was concerned, in today’s materialistic world even they were no less corrupt than their male counterparts, she added. “We know it is the mighty who wins, so our absence or participation in the whole process hardly matters,” she said.

However, turn out of Muslim women was encouraging. After casting her vote, Fauzia Shanam, a resident of Meston Road, said, “All my family members have come to vote and we are sure our favourite candidate will win.” A resident of Tilak Nagar, Natasha Sayani said, “Not all politicians are corrupt. There are some honest people too and we should definitely vote for them.”
