Writing ghazal on demand is a challenge

GHAZAL IS a weapon against social and political injustice and the poets cannot remain aloof from the social upheavals. The happening around the poets reflect in their creations and ghazal is a popular form of literature. Therefore, it should be utilized to generate a mandate against injustice.

GHAZAL IS a weapon against social and political injustice and the poets cannot remain aloof from the social upheavals. The happening around the poets reflect in their creations and ghazal is a popular form of literature. Therefore, it should be utilized to generate a mandate against injustice. Noted Hindi poet Prof Permanand Srivastav expressed these sentiments while delivering a speech at a seminar on Hindi ghazals.

Srivastav said that Hindi ghazal had a close relation with the weaker section of the society, therefore, it was alive and effective.

Sharing his views, head of the department of Urdu, DDU Gorakhpur University Prof Afghanullah Khan said language was not a restriction for poetry. The poets who ignored the limitation and cooperate with emerging demands of the era remained alive.

Earlier, head of department of Hindi in Allahabad University Prof Rajendra Kumar threw light on the history of Hindi ghazal and said Hindi ghazal reflects the realities in its original form. Dr Malvika, Dr Shailendra Mani Tripathi, Devendra Arya, Sharvan Kumar also expressed their views in the seminar which was presided over by noted poet Sherjung Garg.
