Date of Birth: 28 February 1978, Peshawar
Test Debut: Against Bangladesh at Karachi in 2003
ODI Debut: Against New Zealand at Dambulla in 2003
 Bats: Right Hand Bat
 Bowls: Right Arm Off Break

Somehow, Pakistan has this gift of producing extremely gifted young players. Yasir Hameed is one of the latest additions, and centuries in both innings of his first Test speak for themselves, even if they were against Bangladesh. He does not have the bulk of his skipper Inzamam, but great hand-eye coordination give him exemplary timing. His stay in international cricket has been short so far, but he has shown a cool head and the ability to change his game according to situations. Also a very capable fielder.

Quick in the field with a safe pair of hands, Yasir is also a useful addition to Pakistan’s slip cordon.

Strengths: Good technique; can bat in various gears; good temperament

Weaknesses: We shall have to see - he has hardly had much exposure yet

What others say: "His temperament proves he has the talent to go places." Haroon Rashid, Pakistan team manager.
