The straggling reserves are being pumped to the Phool Kalaria pumping station to supply 2-2.5 million gallons of water on alternate days to the western part of the City.

Even these reserves are not expected to last for more than a fortnight and the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) Waterworks Department has already connected overhead tanks fed by the reservoir to the Narmada supply line as a precautionary measure.

Until now water from Yeshwant Sagar was fed to overhead tanks at BSF campus, Subhash Chowk and Maharana Pratap Nagar overhead tanks apart from being supplied on alternate days to Rajwada, Bada Ganpati and other parts of western Indore.

Now, however, the tanks have been linked to the Narmada supply mains and reservoir water is being used only for supplying 2-2.5 million gallons of water to the heart of the City.

Mayor-in-Council member in-charge of Waterworks Munnalal Yadav admitted that the lake had dried up. “Water is being pumped to the Phool Kalaria pumping station to maintain supply for as long as possible. The first stage of pumping is underway and we expect it to provide sufficient water for a week following which the second phase will be started,” he declared.
