CITY YOUTH Congress president Devendra Singh Yadav has announced that Youth Congress members would hold a demonstration tomorrow in front of the IMC to protest against BJP corporator Shankar Yadav’s (ward No 48) act of getting his own school, Gyan Sagar Vidya Niketan, exempted from paying property and education tax to the IMC.

Devendra Yadav said that Youth Congress activists would march from the Krishnapura cenotaph at 10.30 am and reach the IMC premises where they would hold a demonstration demanding that Shankar Yadav, who is also the head of the revenue committee, be sacked from the post and also be asked to resign from the post of corporator.

Devendra Yadav said they would also protest against the support being given to Shankar Yadav by Mayor Uma Shashi Sharma and Speaker Shankar Lalwani.

Devendra Yadav alleged the Shankar Yadav had wilfully misused his position as head of revenue committee and got a proposal passed from the IMC council exempting his school from the taxes.

However, when the matter became public and there was chance of public ridicule, Shankar Yadav wrote to the IMC Speaker and Mayor asking them to delete his school’s name. But, Devendra Yadav argued that a decision by the IMC council could be changed only by the council itself, and by deleting the name of Shankar Yadav’s school the BJP is trying to save him.

Devendra Yadav said they would approach the court and file a public interest litigation.
