Parvinder Singh (20) alias Bhinda of village Jhandiana East under Mehma police station in the distict was found guilty in the case by Additional Sessions Judge B S Sandhu, who also imposed a fine of Rs 23,500 on the convict.

Parvinder had been accused of kidnapping and then raping the 8-year-old girl on August 27, 2004 while she was playing outside her house. He raped the girl, who was later rescued by passers-by.

The court said the prosecution had proved its case, adding the accused deserved no leniency.
