Zafar Alam declared SP candidate from Aligarh

Samajwadi Party on Tuesday declared Zafar Alam as its Lok Sabha candidate from the Aligarh seat following the recommendation of former BJP leader Kalyan Singh.

“We have declared Alam as our candidate from Aligarh constituency. Kalyan Singhji has recommended his name for the seat,” party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav told reporters in Lucknow.

Asked about whether Singh’s son Rajbir Singh, who is also party’s national general secretary, would contest elections, Yadav said he had decided not to contest the polls.

“Rajbir is working for the party and is extensively campaigning for it,” Yadav said.
