ZRUCC meeting focuses on NCR work

THE NORTH Central Railway’s second Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) meeting was held here on Tuesday.

NCR general manager Budh Prakash chaired the meeting.

He enumerated NCR’s achievements during the financial year 2005-06.

He said the NCR’s total earnings would be Rs 4200 crore, or 6.6 per cent higher than last year. The operating ratio was reduced from 67 per cent to 63 per cent. Parcel and passenger traffic increased by 23 per cent and 7 per cent, respectively. New PRS centres at seven new locations, 55 STD/PCO booths at 18 locations and coach indication boards at four locations were provided.

He further spoke about passenger amenities at various stations, track doubling and a provision for a third line.

He said 559 sleeper coaches were added to trains to clear the summer rush.
Mahoba, Dhaulpur, Harpalpur and Dabra were being provided with full rake handling facilities, he added.

He said about 10 new trains would be added to the present operating system in the current financial year.

Construction of new lines — Bhind-Etawah, Agra-Etawah, Lalitpur-Satna-Khajuraho — will be expedited. MP Ram Swaroop Koli put up demands of his area before the general manager. He demanded stoppages for the Marudhar Exp and Intercity trains at Nabdai, Kherli, and Mandawar stations. He also said the Dholupur station should be transferred to the Agra division from Jhansi division.

He also sought VIP lounge and STD/PCO facilities at Dhoulpur station.

All other 13 members placed demands pertaining to their area before the general manger regarding provision of advance passenger amenities, full utilisation of newly constructed tracks between Guna-Gwalior by adding new trains, provision of pantry car in the Chambal Express, water coolers at stations, seating arrangements, STD/PCO booth, new MEMU trains, PRS centre, additional general coaches, commercial use of railway land, stoppage of trains etc.

The member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries spoke about a by-pass freight corridor betwen Manuri-Naini, development of Prayag Ghat and Chheoki stations, annexation of Prayag, Phaphamau, Jhusi stations of Allahabad in NC Railway.

The meeting was attended by 14 ZRUCC members, including MP Ram Swaroop Koli. The 13 others belonged Allahabad, Kanpur, Agra, Gwalior, Bharatpur etc. All principal heads of departments of the NCR were also present at the meeting.

Earlier, chief commercial manager SK Behera welcomed the members.
