The five-year term of the Indore Municipal Corporation came to an end on January 10.
As elections are yet to be held, Indore divisional commissioner Sanjay Dubey has been appointed the corporation administrator and he would continue in the post till a new mayor and corporators are elected.
Dubey confirmed that he had received a letter from the urban administration department, directing him to take charge as the administrator from January 11.
Corporation elections are going to be held on January 31 and the results will be out by February 4. The new council is expected to be formed by February 10.
With the election code of conduct already in place, no new schemes or policies can be announced by the commissioner. He would only look after the daily affairs and monitor ongoing projects.
Mayor Krishna Murari Moghe had taken oath on January 5, 2009, but since the speaker had been nominated on January 10, the functioning of the municipal council is counted from that date.
