People of Matiyamel village said they don’t want to put their children’s life in danger as the kids need to cross overflowing Arh rivulet during the rainy season to reach the school.

There is no bridge over the rivulet.

A decision to this effect was taken as many students earlier left their studies because of the issue, said Subhash.

The village – situated 105 km from the district headquarters, has a population of 2,000 and two hamlets – Chouhan Faliya and Bondarimal Faliya.

Rul ji, a villager, said they have been demanding a bridge over the rivulet from public representatives for many years.

At last, the parents decided to hire a private for the rainy season so that their children continue with study and were not forced to quit.

“We hired a teacher. He teaches them all subjects in the rainy season to keep them updated,” said Nansingh.

The teacher, a college student, teaches around 50 students daily and the guardians pay him `100 for each student a month, he said.

Local legislator and state minister Antar Singh Arya said a culvert was sanctioned over the rivulet and construction work will be started shortly.
