In a bid to improve the sex ratio, a city hospital has announced zero-cost delivery of the child if it is a baby girl.
Dr Ashish Agrawal, owner of Vedant Hospital, situated near Tower Square in the city, said, "People consider females as burden. To end this notion, we came up with this idea."
With a complete waive off on hospital bills, the patient will have to pay only for the consultation charges of the doctor.
"The parents don’t have to pay even a single penny for the hospital expenses if they are blessed with a baby girl. We will bear all the expenses," added Dr Agrawal.
This scheme is already in place in government hospitals; however, Vedant Hospital, a private organisation, will be first non-government hospital to offer this scheme.
"There are a number of schemes for under-privileged in government hospitals. However, we are making an attempt to ensure that people who belong to economically weak classes avail facilities available in private hospitals also," added Dr Agrawal.
With this facility, which will available from Thursday, the hospital administration aims to bring a significant change in the society.
