Manoj Tiwary’s 48-ball-58 takes Rising Pune Supergiant to 162/4 vs Mumbai Indians

Manoj TIwary scored a brilliant half century as Rising Pune Supergiant reached 162/4 against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017.

Tiwary’s 50 came of 45 balls and it included four boundaries and one six. Tiwary came in to bat with Rising Pune Supergiant struggling at nine for two. But he, along with Ajinkya Rahane, steadied the Pune ship and took them towards safety. (LIVE SCORE)

Tiwary played second fiddle till Rahane was at the crease and they stitched together a 80-run partnership for the third wicket before Rahane was adjudged leg-before wicket off the bowling of Karn Sharma.

Manoj Tiwary scored 58 off 48 balls before he was run-out on the final ball of the innings.

Rahane scored 43-ball 56 and the knock included five boundaries and one six. It was Rahane second 50 in this IPL. His earlier knock had come in the very first match against Mumbai Indians at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

Rising Pune Supergiant lost Rahul Tripathi (0) and skipper Steve Smith (1) in the first two overs but that didn’t deter Tiwary and Rahane from playing their shots. After a cautious approach both started to open their shoulders and dispatched anything lose. They kept pinching ones and twos to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Earlier, Rahane had became the 11th player to score 3,000 runs in IPL. The Rising Pune Supergaint opener reached the mark with a singled on the leg side off the bowling of Lasith Malinga in the 11th over. Before the start of the match Rahane needed just 43 runs to reach the landmark in his 110th IPL match.

During in his time in the IPL he has played for Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and the Rising Pune Supergiant with bulk of his run scored for the Rajasthan Royals.
