Royal Challengers Bangalore may have dropped out of the 2017 Indian Premier League season in unceremonious fashion, but their players aren’t letting that pull them down.

RCB, captained by Virat Kohli, finished at the bottom of the IPL 2017 standings after managing just three wins in 14 matches, losing 10 in the process with one match against Sunrisers Hyderabad being abandoned because of rain.

While Kohli has been building on his fan base, his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate Chris Gayle has taken another route, knocking away detractors on social media.

Chris Gayle was recently seen in a video on social media platform Twitter, as part of promotions for a brand he endorses, responding to fans and trolls who tweeted to him (@henrygayle) in the past.

In the video, Gayle reads out three tweets and responds to them, pausing to laugh and make cheeky comments he has come to be known for the world over.

Here are some of the exchanges:

Fan tweeted: Christopher Henry Gayle you beast you’re the king

Chris Gayle’s response: Oh, I love that guy. That guy is a champion. You tweeted that? Of course I’m a king.

Fan tweeted: My friends beat me up because I said Chris Gayle is better than Virat Kohli #chrisayleistheman

Chris Gayle’s response: The guy who beat you up, I need to have a word with him, okay? Because no one beats my fans and gets away with it.

Troll tweeted: Chris Gayle looks like the guy that will beat you up for asking stupid questions or saying butter chicken is nonsense

Chris Gayle’s response: Let me tell you this — I’m not a fighter, I’m a lover. So you might see Chris Gayle a bit aggressive on the field by hitting sixes. That’s my job, that’s where I keep the aggression.

Gayle ended the segment by saying, “It was great fun reading these tweets, I really enjoyed it. Hopefully you guys had fun as well. Keep sending your tweets out to me to make sure you get a chance to interact with Chris Gayle.”

The Jamaican was recently gifted a signed bat by India captain Virat Kohli to be auctioned at a dinner that will be hosted by his charitable organisation, The Chris Gayle Foundation.
