Owner of the house, KK Gupta, said that he along with his wife, nine-month-old granddaughter and the maid were at home when the robbers struck.

Kanta Gupta, KK Gupta’s wife, said, “The robbers came at around 11pm on Wednesday. When my husband enquired they said that they were looking for someone called Rajesh Singh and immediately rushed from the spot. We found them suspicious and immediately called a PCR van. The PCR van looked for them but couldn’t find anyone.”

“My husband was sleeping in another room and I was watching a show on my tablet at around 3am when the trio entered my room with a sharp knife. They asked me to hand over all the jewellery and cash. Hearing my scream, the maid came in with my granddaughter. They snatched away the child and took away all the cash and jewellery and fled. When I went to my husband’s room, I found him gagged with his hands tied.”

The maid, identified as Priya, is absconding and the victims doubt her role in the loot. One of the relatives of the victim said, “The family had hired her from a reputed placement agency, Gufran. She also escaped with the miscreants. She lives in Khatipura with her family. We doubt that she must have let in the robbers.”

Senior officials, including additional DCP Manoj Chaudhary and ACP Mansarovar Deepak Kumar reached the spot on being informed. The main roads of the district have been barricaded so that the miscreants cannot escape.
